Howdy!
I am a complete nerd! My idea of a perfect day is when I get to crawl up on the couch and read a good book! (I spent 5 hours at Barnes & Noble today just reading!) I just got done reading one of the best books I’ve read in a long time! Lady in Waiting by Jackie Kendall & Debbie Jones… it’s a MUST read! I’m not really sure what compelled me to start reading this particular book, but I am SO glad that I did. I actually think the authors owe me a percentage of their sales because I’ve recommended it to so many girls!
Lady in Waiting is how you can become God’s best while waiting for Mr. Right. Probably sounds a little cheesy but it would be anything but that. I think that sometimes as girls we question our worth based upon if we have a boyfriend or not. I think it’s also very easy to settle for less than the best simply because we may be tired of waiting for our knight in shining armor. This is crazy! Not only is God preparing us as women, but he is also preparing our Mr. Right. I am not going to ruin the book for anyone who is going to read it, so…. I do challenge each of you to go to the book store today and begin reading my favorite book! I promise it will be worth every minute.
Changing pace a little bit, we are getting closer and closer to summer every day! I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait. I will take my last final on May 12th, and then I’m going home to Stephenville for a little while before we hit the road for the summer. I’m also going to take a Maymester business math class during that time, yuck!
In between the last time I wrote a blog and now, has been a pretty exciting time. Our Retiring Address for State Convention was due April 20th. I have know what I wanted mine to be about for a good while… or so I thought! When I sat down to start writing, I just felt lost. I didn’t know what I wanted to talk about; it was not a good feeling. I began questioning myself why I was having these feelings when I had already prepared so much before this. I knew that sitting there looking at my computer screen wasn’t going to help me much so I just got up, forgot about it, and went about my normal day. Matthew 6:34 says “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself; each day has enough trouble of its own.”
I knew God had another plan for me and my Retiring Address. To make a really long story short I just didn’t worry about it because I knew God would place something else on my heart. Sure enough, He did and my RA is DONE!!!! I hope that each of you will get to come to State Convention in Dallas, July 7th-10th and enjoy this experience. I can be completely honest and say that until the last couple of years, I didn’t pay that much attention to the Retiring Addresses. What a mistake! I think it is so neat to see what each officer has learned throughout the year and how they want to share that with the 10,000+ students there! This is my favorite part of Convention now! Enjoy the rest of the school year and stay away from the “swine flu!” haha
Have a great May! Be blessed
