Blessed am I

It’s hard to believe that the end of summer is so quickly approaching! Summer ending=Starting back to school! While some of you may be excited, others of you are probably not so excited! As for me, well… I’m not exactly sure how I’m feeling right about now! I mean obviously the whole idea of going to school is inevitable, but is also a choice that we are able to make. As some of you may know, I recently just finished my term serving as a 2008-2009 Texas FFA State Officer. You may be asking yourself how this relates to school? One word pops to mind, TRANSITION. My life is in a big state of transition at the current moment. Haven’t we all heard the saying “as one door closes, another one opens” or what about “All good things must come to an end”? To be quite honest, these 2 sayings have been said to me countless times since July 10th, the day I hung up my FFA jacket for the last time.

Serving as a State Officer was truly one of the best years of my life, and was also a once and a lifetime experience. I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve with 9 other very amazing people, all working towards a common goal. So obviously as much as I enjoyed those 14 months of my life, it was a little sad to hear myself being called a ‘Past State Officer.’

The bittersweet feeling of completing my term also has provided me with the chance to take part in several other remarkable opportunities. 1. After State Convention, I took about 2 weeks off to catch up on sleep, hang out with friends and family, and simply relax before I starting working at my O SO FUN new job! I feel so blessed to be working for Dr. Skaggs (Dean of the College of Ag & Life Sciences at Texas A&M.) I absolutely love it because its something I’m truly passionate for. 2. My good friends & teammates Rachel & Amanda moved to Aggieland, woo hoo! 3. My new roommates finally got moved in. It’s been so amazing getting to go home to 3 amazing girls. And not to mention, I love love love to decorate, and we have done a lot of it lately! Lots of decorating=cute house! 4. My very best friend JP got married last weekend. It was such an honor getting to be the Maid of Honor in the wedding and being able to help make her special day EXTRA special. 5. I could go on forever about all of the good things in my life, but it might take a while!

Through all of this transition, I could not be more thankful for the life I’ve been given. I constantly find myself wondering what in the world I have done to deserve soooooo much good. I actually told my dad just the other night that I was bound to have some bad luck come my way sooner or later because there’s no way everything could be going so perfect! However, hopefully this wont happen, but importantly, will remind me of how fortunate I am.

I want to leave you with one quote that I heard this week and it been on my mind 24/7. “Blessings come down when Prayers go Up.” As school begins to start, I challenge you to find out how true this quote really is. You will be in awe of the power of one simple Prayer.

Be Blessed,
Macy
