School: An institution where instruction is given.
This could be High School, a community college, Baylor University, or even Cosmetology school, but for me... it’s Texas A&M University. Now don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love it here in Aggieland. No doubt the actual school part is very challenging 99% of the time, but I love the people, the professors are great, and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else! So when given the opportunity to miss a week of school for the National FFA Convention… Tough Decision!
A week in Indianapolis having fun OR a week at school with tests and homework, hmm lets see…
My Choice: INDY!
So maybe I exaggerated just a bit about the decision, there was not a decision to be made for me! This was my 4th year to have the opportunity to attend the National Convention, and there was no way I was going to miss it. While I was there, I recruited students for A&M, had a meeting for my international trip to China, and also received my American Degree on Saturday.
Looking back now, I realize that each year I’ve gone, I have learned something new. Maybe it was the Voting Delegate Process, learning the city life-style, or maybe it was just something simple that I realized after hearing a motivational speaker.
You may be wondering, “Ok, so what did she learn this year?” Well, let me ask you another question. Have you ever heard something over and over again before finally coming to the realization that it must be important, or people wouldn’t always be talking about it right?
For me, it was the simple fact of “Seeing People.” I heard it 3 different times, 3 different ways, all 3 being very powerful messages. Seeing People??? Yes. Maybe you see a person, but you only see skin deep. Maybe you pass the same person everyday at school, but don’t take the time to talk to them. It could even be that someone sends you a text message, and you don’t see them as being important or cool enough to reply. You don’t see their emotions, wants, or needs. You think it doesn’t matter right? Friends, think about this for a moment… I bet it would be safe to say we can all admit to this fault at some point in our life. Personally, I am not proud to admit to this what-so-ever, but it’s just a part of life.
“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17
“Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13
As October ends and November begins, this means the Christmas spirit will be upon us before we know it. I encourage you to really start SEEING people. See their wants, see their needs, see their emotions, and see that you can truly make a difference in someone’s life. Forget about being to cool or too busy, be willing to be inconvienced if that’s what it will take. Let your Love shine and wake up and SEE.
Be Blessed,
Macy
